Security personnel stop woman attempting to enter former Vice President Harris' Malibu home

Summary

Los Angeles County deputies intercepted an unidentified woman who tried to enter former Vice President Kamala Harris' Malibu property on Friday night; she left without arrest.

Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to a call from former Vice President Kamala Harris' on-site security after a woman attempted to enter the former vice president's cliffside residence in Malibu around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. The individual, whose identity was not released, complied with officers and left the premises voluntarily, and no arrest was made.

"Last night, security personnel stopped an individual who illegally entered Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff’s property before the individual reached the home," Harris spokesperson Eduardo Negrón said in a statement, adding that the couple was grateful for the swift response.

Lt. Jason Duron, a watch commander at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff's station, said his department will increase patrols around the property to ensure safety.

The incident occurred while Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff were not at the home. Their security team had contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which has jurisdiction over Malibu. The California Highway Patrol continues to support Harris' security detail, though its officers were not present during the Friday night event.

Harris' security arrangements have been a subject of public discussion, as former vice presidents normally receive six months of Secret Service protection after leaving office, a period that was extended by former President Biden and later ended by President Trump.
