Apple TV Wins Eight Primetime Emmys, Dominating Over HBO and Netflix
Apple TV secured eight Primetime Emmy awards, including six for the series Widow's Bay and two for Pluribus, bringing its total Emmy haul for 2026 to 28.
Apple TV earned eight Primetime Emmy awards on Tuesday, with six honors going to the comedy-horror series Widow's Bay and two to the drama Pluribus. The wins raise the streaming service’s total Emmy count for 2026 to 28, after it previously captured 20 Creative Arts Emmys earlier in the year.
Widow's Bay, which received 19 nominations, was recognized for best comedy series, lead actor in a comedy series (Matthew Rhys), supporting actor (Stephen Root) and supporting actress (Kate O'Flynn) in a comedy series, outstanding writing (Katie Dipold) and outstanding directing (Hiro Murai). Pluribus received awards for lead actress in a drama series (Rhea Seehorn) and outstanding writing (Vince Gilligan).
HBO’s primary successes were The Pitt, which won best drama series and lead actor (Noah Wyle), and Hacks, which earned Jean Smart the award for lead actress in a comedy series. DTF St Louis took the Emmy for best limited or anthology series, and Tom Pelphrey won best supporting actor in a drama series for Task.
Netflix secured three Primetime Emmys: Allison Janney won best supporting actress for The Diplomat, Sally Field won lead actress in a limited or anthology series for Remarkably Bright Creatures, and Matthew Rhys received a second lead-acting award for The Beast in Me, marking the first instance of a performer winning two lead-acting Emmys in the same ceremony.
