Zverev clinches US Open title, girlfriend shares Instagram tribute
Alexander Zverev defeated Ben Shelton to win the U.S. Open, and his partner Sophia Thomalla posted a celebratory Instagram story featuring his trophies.
Alexander Zverev secured his second major title of the year by beating Ben Shelton in the U.S. Open final on Sunday. The German player added the U.S. Open trophy to the French Open crown he won earlier in the season.
Sophia Thomalla, Zverev's girlfriend, posted an Instagram story that displayed images of both trophies and wrote, "He did it again! ❤️." Thomalla was not present at the tournament but indicated she would celebrate with Zverev when they are together again.
Zverev, who had faced criticism for his performances at major events before his French Open win, now holds two Grand Slam titles. The U.S. Open concludes the calendar year's majors, with the next opportunities at the Australian Open and Wimbledon in 2027.
