Protests Planned Across Ireland Ahead of President Trump's Visit

Resumen

Various activist groups and members of the public are organizing demonstrations in Dublin and Shannon as President Donald Trump arrives in Ireland for a brief political meeting and a golf tournament.

President Donald Trump is scheduled to land in Dublin on Saturday before traveling to a golf course on Ireland's west coast for the Irish Open. While officials expect a brief meeting with Irish leaders, several activist groups have announced protests at Shannon Airport and in Dublin.

An unnamed woman contacted Today FM and shared a photograph of a large sign in her yard that reads “FXCK TRUMP,” which she said she and her husband created to express opposition to the visit.

Organizers from groups such as Shannonwatch, Futureproof Clare, and other regional activists said they will hold demonstrations at Shannon Airport over two days. > "We hope to give Trump a great big unwelcome when he arrives in Shannon on Saturday morning," said Sinead Sheehan of Futureproof Clare.

A spokesperson for Shannonwatch added, "The vast majority of people in Ireland are fundamentally opposed to crimes against humanity and the environment. They stand with Palestine, and all oppressed peoples. We encourage them to make this clear by participating in peaceful protests against Trump over the coming weekend."

Interviews conducted in Dublin captured mixed reactions from residents. One woman described Trump as "very greedy, self-centered and unpredictable," while another expressed concern that his presence could disrupt local activities, including the golf tournament.

On a beach overlooking Dublin Bay, the organization Uplift arranged a sand message reading “NO KINGS—GAZA IRAN ICE.” Executive director Siobhán O’Donoghue said the display was intended to convey opposition to the president's policies.

The White House has been contacted for comment.
