Vice President Vance criticizes Democrats and promotes family values at GOP convention

Resumen

In a closing-night speech at the Republican convention, Vice President JD Vance accused the Democratic Party of abandoning its historic principles and emphasized what he described as an American "birthright" to family and opportunity.

Vice President JD Vance used the final night of the Republican National Convention to argue that the Democratic Party has shifted away from the platforms of past presidents such as Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton. He said the party now represents hostility toward the nation and its founding values.

Vance invoked the memory of Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk, who was killed a year earlier, and highlighted Kirk’s message about the importance of marriage and fatherhood. He framed these ideas as part of an "American birthright" that guarantees every child the chance to inherit the country’s blessings regardless of background.

The vice president contrasted this vision with what he described as Democratic attacks on the nuclear family, citing remarks from a Michigan Senate candidate. He also addressed a protester waving foreign flags, urging the individual to display the American flag instead.

Vance linked the Democratic agenda to economic concerns, claiming that rising housing costs and competition from illegal immigration have made middle-class life less attainable. He cited his work leading a White House task force on fraud, which he said has uncovered $250 billion in fraudulent activity.

The speech concluded with Vance criticizing Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed over personal remarks, portraying the contest as a broader cultural battle between the parties.
