Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold sidelined with hip strain, timeline uncertain
Seattle's Sam Darnold will miss an undetermined amount of time after being diagnosed with a hip muscle strain, coach Mike Macdonald said.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold was taken out of Wednesday night’s game due to a hip injury and will miss an unspecified period, according to head coach Mike Macdonald. Macdonald told Brock & Salk on Seattle Sports Radio that medical testing showed the injury is a muscle strain rather than joint damage, noting that the hip is otherwise intact. > "The hip is intact and it’s good. It’s more of like a muscle thing," he said. The coach added that the exact duration of Darnold’s absence is still unknown. > "How long that is, we don’t know yet," Macdonald said. Backup quarterback Drew Lock, who performed well after replacing Darnold, is expected to start the upcoming Week 2 game against the Arizona Cardinals, though Darnold could return shortly thereafter.
