Seahawks coach says Sam Darnold's hip fracture has been ruled out, further testing pending

Resumen

Seattle head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed that doctors have excluded a hip fracture for quarterback Sam Darnold, but additional scans are scheduled to determine the full extent of the injury.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said on Wednesday that medical examinations have ruled out a hip fracture for quarterback Sam Darnold, though further tests are still required. > "Let's say it's good news right now. I know our thoughts and prayers are with Sam — we love him. The guys really pulled through for him. At this point, we were able to rule out a fracture. So there's some more tests to be done," Macdonald told reporters after the game.

Darnold left the contest in the first quarter after being sacked on third down and was examined on the sideline before returning to the locker room. He was later taken to Harborview Medical Center for a CT scan, and a subsequent X-ray was reported as positive, indicating no major injury. An MRI is scheduled for Thursday to confirm the diagnosis.

Because the injury's severity remains uncertain, Macdonald could not confirm Darnold's availability for Seattle's Week 2 game against Arizona.
