Ryan Garcia Defeats Conor Benn by Second-Round TKO to Retain WBC Welterweight Title

Résumé

Ryan Garcia retained his WBC welterweight championship with a second-round technical knockout of Conor Benn at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, earning an estimated $15 million each.

Ryan Garcia kept his WBC welterweight crown on Saturday night, stopping Conor Benn by technical knockout in the second round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Benn opened the fight aggressively, but Garcia responded with a left hook and, in the second round, landed a right hand that knocked Benn to the canvas. Benn rose, but Garcia continued the assault until the referee halted the contest.

The victory marks Garcia’s first successful defense of the title he won seven months earlier against Mario Barrios. Both fighters are reported to have earned roughly $15 million for the bout.

Following the win, Garcia said he is open to future matchups with top welterweights, naming Teofimo Lopez, Rolando Romero and Shakur Stevenson as potential opponents while indicating he is not focused on a fight with Devin Haney at this time. He added that any challenger would need to beat him to claim a major name-making opportunity.

Lopez holds a WBA title that could be at stake in a future clash, while Romero, who previously defeated Garcia in May 2025, remains a possible rematch candidate.
