Raiders tight end Brock Bowers to miss at least one game after meniscus procedure

Resumen

All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers underwent a meniscus trim and is expected to sit out the Raiders' season opener, according to league sources.

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers had a meniscus trim performed on Tuesday in Dallas and is projected to miss at least the team's opening game, league sources told ESPN and NFL Network on Wednesday. The injury, described as a minor camp setback, was diagnosed last week and led to the procedure with Dr. Daniel Cooper.

First-year head coach Klint Kubiak said before the report that he expected all players to be ready for Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins, adding, "We're expecting to have all of our guys ready for Sunday."

Bowers has a history of knee problems, having played three games last season with a posterior cruciate ligament injury and a bone bruise before missing three games, then returning for 12 games (eight starts) before finishing the year on injured reserve. He recorded 64 receptions for 680 yards and seven touchdowns and earned a Pro Bowl selection.

He returned to full health for spring workouts and was a primary target for quarterback Kirk Cousins during OTAs and training camp, positioning him for a key role in the Raiders' passing attack. With Bowers sidelined, tight end Michael Mayer is expected to assume a larger offensive responsibility.
