South Park renamed "South America" for season 29 premiere with new theme song and Trump cameo
The animated series debuted its 29th season under the new title "South America," featuring an updated theme song, an e-bike storyline and a brief appearance by Donald Trump.
The animated comedy premiered its 29th season on Wednesday, introducing the series under the new name "South America." The opening episode, "South American Biker Gangs," opened with a revised theme song that references the renamed town and included a cameo appearance by President Donald Trump.
The plot follows the main characters—Cartman, Stan, Kyle and Kenny—as they become enthusiastic about e-bikes, prompting the town’s adults to form a rival biker gang. Kenny meets his usual fate when his e-bike explodes, an event that leads the community to ban e-bikes and market "South America Strong" T-shirts.
Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced the name change earlier in the month, describing it as a satirical response to recent proposals by Trump to rename various geographic features with "America" suffixes. They issued a statement saying the change was "inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google" and thanked their parent company Paramount.
The series, which won the 2026 Creative Arts Emmy for outstanding animated program, also posted a graphic of Trump on its official X account that mocked the president.
