Elon Musk Documentary Moves Up Release Date to October 9

摘要

The Alex Gibney-directed documentary about Elon Musk will open in U.S. theaters on October 9, a week earlier than planned, after strong interest and a recent premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.

Bleecker Street announced that the Alex Gibney-directed documentary on Elon Musk will open in New York and Los Angeles on October 9, with a nationwide rollout to follow. The film, which runs three hours and forty-five minutes with an intermission, had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and will have its North American debut at the Toronto Film Festival later Monday.

The release date was moved up from the previously scheduled October 16 in response to heightened public interest. The documentary presents a critical view of Musk’s business practices and personal relationships, featuring interviews with former partners including Justine Musk and Ashley St. Clair.

Musk has publicly criticized the film on his X platform, describing director Gibney as “a bitter old man who lost the plot long ago” and calling him a “horrible human.”

"You are … on notice, before release, that the insinuation is false, that the material refuting it is public, and that you chose not to be told the rest," a legal letter from Musk’s attorney Alex Spiro warned a media outlet.

The documentary holds a 100 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. After the October 9 opening, the film is slated to expand to additional theaters across the United States.
