Fourteen Hospitalized After Chainsmokers Concert in San Jose

Summary

Emergency services transported 14 concertgoers to hospitals following the Chainsmokers' outdoor show in San Jose, marking the second recent incident involving the duo's performances.

San Jose fire officials said they responded at 8:22 p.m. on Sept. 4 to reports of multiple patients needing medical care at an outdoor Chainsmokers concert held at Discovery Meadow. The department dispatched an ambulance task force, two advanced life support fire units and a battalion chief, with a total of 14 ambulances arriving and 14 patients taken to local hospitals.

"SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources," the fire department posted on X.

Local police indicated that many of the hospitalized individuals had consumed alcohol or drugs, though the exact conditions of the patients were not disclosed. The EDM duo has not commented on the incident, and a spokesperson did not respond to media inquiries.

The San Jose event follows a similar occurrence last month at a Palm Springs venue, where seven attendees required emergency care after a fight and bottles were thrown into the crowd. Other recent concerts, such as a Garth Brooks secret show in Denver, also saw dozens of fans needing medical attention due to heat-related issues.
