Murray's debut pass for Vikings intercepted as Packers take early 3-0 lead
Kyler Murray's first throw as a Minnesota Viking was intercepted, giving Green Bay a short-lived advantage that turned into a 3-0 lead after a rookie field goal.
Kyler Murray's inaugural pass for the Minnesota Vikings was intercepted on his first play, allowing the Green Bay Packers to open the scoring. Under pressure on a second-and-11 from the Vikings' 34-yard line, Murray launched a high throw toward Jauan Jennings on the right sideline, but Packers safety Keisean Nixon secured the ball.
"Murray's first pass was intercepted by Keisean Nixon," the play recap noted.
The turnover gave Green Bay an additional possession, though quarterback Jordan Love later threw the ball away on a third-and-12 from the Minnesota 41-yard line, missing the chance to extend the lead. Rookie kicker Trey Smack then converted a 59-yard field goal, putting the Packers ahead 3-0 with just over twelve minutes left in the first quarter.
The interception held added significance as Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon previously coached Murray while both were with the Arizona Cardinals.
