Teen Indicted in Georgia Sexual Assault Case May Face Strict Bail Conditions
KJ Biermann, 15, has been indicted on multiple serious charges and could be released on bond with extensive monitoring, according to legal experts.
A 15-year-old boy charged with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and several counts of sexual battery in Georgia may be granted bond, but experts say he would likely be subject to rigorous conditions. Former prosecutor Lindsay Richards, who is not involved in the case, told Page Six that the teen could be placed under house arrest, required to wear a GPS monitor and attend school remotely, with possible enrollment in educational and therapy programs before trial.
The indictment stems from an alleged incident at a co-ed sauna in Alpharetta earlier this year, where a female classmate accused the teen of non-consensual sexual acts. He was arrested on Aug. 17 and is being held at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center. Richards noted that the charges carry the potential for decades of imprisonment if convicted and suggested prosecutors may seek to try the youth as an adult.
The teen’s attorney, Jason Sheffield, maintains his client’s innocence and says a polygraph test showed no deception on relevant questions. He also highlighted the boy’s football and academic achievements, as well as his community ties, in a request for release. The mother, former reality-TV personality Kim Zolciak, described the allegations as “reckless and deeply troubling” and said her son denies any wrongdoing. The case is scheduled for a hearing on Sept. 8.
