Apple iPhone 18 Pro models deliver ~21% Geekbench performance boost
GSMArena reported on 11 September that benchmark tests showed the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max delivering roughly a 21-23 % performance gain over the prior generation, with both devices powered by Apple’s new 2 nm A20 Pro processor. The devices, introduced on 9 September, had been the subject of earlier leaks that revealed details of the A20 Pro chip, including a front-side die image showing a seven-core GPU and wafer-level multi-chip module packaging (Wccftech) and circuit diagrams indicating an unchanged CPU core count but a larger L2 cache for efficiency cores (9to5Mac). Apple later announced the A20 Pro processor built on a 2 nm process for the iPhone 18 Pro models (MacRumors).
Subsequent benchmark testing recorded near-5 GHz clock speeds and top single-core and multi-core Geekbench 6. 7 scores of 4,725 and 12,575 respectively, outpacing competing Snapdragon and MediaTek chips (Notebookcheck). Pre-release Geekbench 7 data also suggested roughly a 20 % single-core and up to 28 % multi-core speed increase, with a 38-40 % GPU boost (MacRumors).
