Apple A20 Pro posts near-5 GHz clocks and leads in single-core Geekbench scores
Apple's A20 Pro chip, tested in an iPhone 18 Pro Max, recorded 4,725 single-core and 12,575 multi-core points on Geekbench 6.7, outpacing early Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 and MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro results.
Apple's newly unveiled A20 Pro processor was benchmarked on Geekbench 6.7 using an iPhone 18 Pro Max device. The six-core CPU, configured with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, achieved 4,93 GHz on the performance cores and scored 4,725 points in single-core and 12,575 points in multi-core tests. The phone was equipped with 12 GB of RAM.
In comparison, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, running at up to 5.01 GHz, posted 3,434 single-core and 9,334 multi-core points, making the A20 Pro roughly 38 % faster in single-core and 35 % faster in multi-core performance. MediaTek's Dimensity 9600 Pro recorded around 3,400 single-core and 12,000 multi-core points, also trailing the Apple chip in single-core results.
Xiaomi's Xring O3, tested in a tablet, reached 3,699 single-core and 14,350 multi-core points, surpassing the A20 Pro in multi-core performance by about 14 % while remaining slower in single-core tests.
Apple's GPU also showed a notable increase, with a Geekbench Metal score of 64,069 points, compared with 45,683 points for the previous generation A19 Pro. The improvement is attributed to an additional GPU core and a shift to TSMC's newer GAAFET-based N2 manufacturing process.
