Elon Musk attacks director of new documentary on his life

Summary

Elon Musk used his X platform to criticize filmmaker Alex Gibney and the four-hour documentary about Musk that premiered at the Venice Film Festival, calling the work a hit piece and questioning its integrity.

Elon Musk posted a series of messages on X, the social network he acquired in 2022, denouncing the four-hour documentary about his life and influence that debuted at the Venice Film Festival. He described director Alex Gibney as a “bitter old man” with “zero integrity” and called the film a “hit piece” that was “boring af.”

Musk also shared an image that linked the Democratic Party, a group labeled “Team Soros,” Gibney, and Hollywood in a chain of puppets, commenting “Accurate.” He later referred to the film as a “psy op,” suggesting it was a psychological operation intended to shape public opinion.

In response to a supporter who said they were unfamiliar with Gibney, Musk wrote that the director’s work was a “hit list” of people with grievances against him. He also dismissed a claim by former partner Ashley St Clair that Musk’s team offered her $40 million for a nondisclosure agreement, stating she “has a history of making false claims.”

Musk amplified a post from podcaster Katie Miller, who argued that the documentary lacked input from his acquaintances and called it a “hit job by a self-obsessed Hollywood director.”

Gibney, speaking at a press conference in Venice, said he sensed fear among individuals he approached for the film and suggested Musk’s difficult childhood in South Africa might influence his current behavior.
