Jurors from Lindsay Clancy murder trial discuss deliberations after mistrial

Résumé

Three jurors, including the foreperson, spoke to NBC10 Boston about the deadlocked deliberations that led to a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy murder case.

Three members of the jury that voted a mistrial in the Lindsay Clancy murder case spoke to NBC10 Boston about the deliberation process. The jury foreperson, who authored a note indicating that a juror expressed reasonable doubt but would not agree to a verdict, participated in an hour-long interview with reporter Sue O'Connell.

The jurors said a single juror repeatedly refused to consider a verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity, despite acknowledging reasonable doubt. The foreperson noted, "He admitted he had reasonable doubt and I started filling out the forms, I was so excited," and added that the holdout juror responded, "But I'm still not going to say that she's not guilty by reason of insanity."

According to the jurors, the deliberations were extensive enough that the six alternate jurors could hear the discussions, creating the impression of a contentious debate. NBC10 Boston has sought comment from the juror described as a holdout.

The interview will be featured in a later broadcast on "Commonwealth Confidential" and will be available on the station’s streaming platforms.
