Attorney for Patrick Clancy Says Defamation Campaign Targets Family After Mistrial

Résumé

Patrick Clancy's lawyer claims the family is facing a coordinated misinformation effort by online personalities and says legal action will be pursued following the mistrial in the case of his ex-wife Lindsay Clancy.

Attorneys for Patrick Clancy issued a statement Tuesday after a mistrial was declared in the murder trial of his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, over the deaths of their three children. Howard Cooper of Todd & Weld said the family has been subjected to a "relentless, escalating and destructive defamation campaign" spread by minor celebrities, influencers and conspiracy theorists who, he asserted, are posting false claims that Patrick was involved in the killings.

Cooper warned that the misinformation threatens Clancy's reputation, livelihood and personal safety, and announced that law enforcement has been notified. He added that the family will pursue all appropriate legal measures to hold those responsible accountable.

Lindsay Clancy faces three murder charges for the 2023 deaths of her children Cora, Dawson and Callan and is currently held at Tewksbury State Hospital. The jury deadlocked after seven days of deliberation, leading to the mistrial, and a hearing on the case's next steps is scheduled for Sept. 29.
