U.S. Presidents Cup captain selects six players for final roster
Captain Brandt Snedeker announced six captain’s picks, completing the United States team for the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club.
Brandt Snedeker finalized the U.S. Presidents Cup squad on Tuesday, naming Chris Gotterup, Xander Schauffele, Jackson Koivun, Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay and Jacob Bridgeman as his six captain’s selections. The picks join automatic qualifiers Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley and Collin Morikawa for the competition at Medinah Country Club from Sept. 24-27.
Snedeker had indicated the selection pool contained about 20 to 22 players, making the narrowing process challenging. Notably, Ryan Gerard and Ben Griffin, both high in the world rankings, were omitted from the roster. Griffin, ranked No. 23, had been in the top six automatic spots for most of the season before missing out in the final qualifying event, while Gerard finished third at the Tour Championship. J.J. Spaun, the 2025 U.S. Open champion, also did not receive a pick after withdrawing from the East Lake tournament due to a shoulder injury.
The 21-year-old Koivun, who secured his first Tour victory in his third career start, will make his Presidents Cup debut alongside Gotterup and Bridgeman. The event will be broadcast live on NBC and Golf Channel, with additional streaming on Golf Channel mobile and Peacock.
