Hollywood Walk of Fame star of Dolly Parton vandalized, repairs underway

Resumen

Dolly Parton's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was scratched shortly after her funeral; officials say repairs are in progress and should be completed by Friday.

Dolly Parton's Hollywood Walk of Fame star was reported scratched by a visitor on social media a few days after the singer's burial. Photographs posted by the fan showed multiple surface marks on the brass star.

"A fan went to the star yesterday and reported on social that the star was vandalized with many scratches. From the photo she posted, it does appear the star was vandalized with scratches," said Ana Martinez, producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Martinez added that flowers previously placed at the star had been removed the morning before the damage was noted as part of a scheduled maintenance effort. The Hollywood Historic Trust, which oversees the Walk of Fame, is carrying out the repairs and expects to polish the star by Friday, allowing visitors to again pay tribute.

Parton died on Aug. 25 at age 80 after a brief illness. The vandalism occurred amid ongoing public mourning for the country music icon.
