Tiger Woods to Appear in Florida Court to Change DUI Plea

Résumé

The golfer will appear Wednesday to amend his not-guilty plea in a March DUI case after a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida.

Tiger Woods is scheduled to appear in a Martin County courtroom on Wednesday to change his plea in a DUI case stemming from a March rollover crash on Jupiter Island, Florida. Court documents show that Woods, 50, previously entered a not-guilty plea and waived an arraignment, requesting a jury trial.

Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods exhibited signs of impairment and refused a urine test after the incident. A police report indicated that two white pills, later identified as hydrocodone, were found in Woods' left-side pant pocket. The affidavit notes that Woods admitted to taking a few prescription medications, although he denied consuming alcohol or illegal substances.

Woods was handcuffed and charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. In a prior statement posted to X, he acknowledged the seriousness of the situation and said he was stepping away to seek treatment and focus on his health, aiming to return in a healthier and more focused condition.

The golfer completed a rehabilitation program in Switzerland and left the facility in June after nearly three months. He recently appeared in a pre-recorded video honoring Notah Begay at the Payne Stewart Award ceremony.
