Modders Release DLSS 5 Swapper Tool to Enable DLSS 5 in Unsupported Games
A new open-source utility called DLSS 5 Swapper automates the insertion of NVIDIA's DLSS 5 into games that lack native support, working with RTX 20-series, RTX 30-series and older GPUs.
The modding community has launched DLSS 5 Swapper, a GitHub-hosted application that simplifies adding NVIDIA's DLSS 5 to both supported and unsupported games. Developed by user rankanki911, the tool provides a drag-and-drop interface that automatically inserts the required files and detects installed games on a PC.
DLSS 5 Swapper relies on a community component called "DLSS5-Feeder," which injects DLSS calls into games that do not natively include the technology. The feeder works together with ReShade, which supplies a depth buffer and optical-flow motion data needed for DLSS operation. According to the release notes, the utility is compatible with DirectX 9, 10, 11 and 12 titles as well as several emulators, including DuckStation, PCSX2, Dolphin, PPSSPP, Xenia and Cemu.
The program also claims to function on all RTX GPU hardware, removing the official requirement for RTX 50-series cards. It enables RTX 20-series and RTX 30-series users to run DLSS 5 after the community’s modifications. The developers note that the tool is independent of NVIDIA and advise users to verify download sources for security.
"DLSS5-Feeder is a community mod that makes DLSS calls so DLSS 5 can be triggered in-game," the project's documentation explains.
"The app can automatically detect games installed on a user's PC, further automating the process," the release description states.
The utility is positioned as a way for gamers to access developer-level controls over DLSS 5 rendering, though users are cautioned to ensure the software is obtained from trusted locations.
