Prince Harry returns to Britain but maintains grievances with the royal family
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have relocated to the UK with their children, yet sources say Harry still expects an apology from the royal family and remains angry with certain relatives.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle arrived in Birmingham with their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5, and are setting up a private residence in the United Kingdom. The couple will keep their homes in Montecito, California, and a vacation property in Portugal, while the children are expected to start school in Britain in September. Their move does not restore them to working royal status; they remain private, non-working members of the family.
According to a Daily Mail report that cited unnamed friends of the Sussexes, Harry’s attitude toward the royal family has not softened since his 2020 departure. The source said Harry remains angry with some relatives and the “men in grey suits” surrounding King Charles, and continues to expect an apology for past treatment. The report also claimed Harry has no intention of issuing a public apology for his own statements since stepping back from duties.
Harry previously expressed a desire for reconciliation in a May 2025 BBC interview, saying he would “love reconciliation with my family” and that he had forgiven much of the past, though he cited a security-protection dispute as an unresolved issue. In a 2023 interview, he had also said he wanted “accountability and an apology to my wife.”
King Charles met privately with Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet at Highgrove in July, but the palace did not disclose details of the conversation. Relations between Harry and Prince William remain distant, with reports indicating no recent contact between the brothers.
The relocation places Harry closer to UK-based charities such as WellChild, Scotty’s Little Soldiers and the Invictus Games, while Meghan continues her work with the As Ever initiative and other projects.
