Olivia Rodrigo Announces 2027 Return for All-Female Daisy Chain Fields Festival

Résumé

Olivia Rodrigo headlined the inaugural Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, drawing 45,000 attendees and promising a future edition in 2027 featuring a lineup of contemporary and legacy female artists.

The first Daisy Chain Fields festival concluded on Saturday in Irvine, California, with headliner Olivia Rodrigo telling a crowd of about 45,000 that the event will return in 2027. The three-day lineup combined emerging acts such as Chappell Roan and Doechii with veteran performers including Stevie Nicks, Sarah McLachlan, Alanis Morissette, and the punk band Bikini Kill.

Rodrigo’s set, the longest of the day, featured guest appearances by McLachlan, Nicks and Morissette, who joined her for duets of “Building a Mystery,” “Angel” and “Ironic.” The performance also introduced a new song, “Serena Joy,” and highlighted tracks from her recent album “You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love.”

The festival also showcased a range of genres across two stages. Mitski performed before Doechii, while the Breeders and Garbage delivered 1990s-era rock on the secondary stage. Bikini Kill’s set was noted for its energetic punk delivery and a moment when frontwoman Kathleen Hanna recalled the rarity of female audiences at her shows in the 1990s.

In addition to the musical program, philanthropist Melinda French Gates announced a matching donation that will double the $10 million already pledged by Rodrigo for ten charitable beneficiaries.

Organizers emphasized the all-female focus of the event, positioning it as a contemporary continuation of the spirit of the 1990s Lilith Fair. Attendees expressed enthusiasm for the festival’s diverse roster and the promise of future editions.
