Detroit Lions release updated depth chart ahead of preseason matchup with Indianapolis
The Lions posted a revised roster list for their third preseason game, noting injuries, rookie status and projected starters as head coach Dan Campbell weighs player usage before upcoming roster cuts.
Detroit head coach Dan Campbell said the team will evaluate players on a game-by-game basis as the Lions approach their third preseason contest against the Indianapolis Colts. Campbell noted that all participants are ready to play and that those who dress for the game are expected to stay on the field if needed.
The updated depth chart lists three quarterbacks—Jared Goff, rookie Luke Altmyer and Josh Dobbs—with Altmyer and Dobbs competing for the backup role. Running backs include Jahmyr Gibbs, who is expected to sit out, and Isiah Pacheco, who is recovering from a MCL strain. Several backs are listed with recent injuries, leaving the position open for multiple contenders.
Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams (shoulder injury) lead the group, with several others vying for reserve spots and special-teams duties. Tight end Sam LaPorta is on the hip injury list, while Jackson Meeks is highlighted as a potential roster addition.
On the offensive line, projected regular-season starters such as Penei Sewell and Christian Mahogany are unlikely to play, but the game-day lineup features Larry Borom, Ben Bartch (concussion), and others as possible reserves. Campbell indicated that the interior line remains a fluid situation.
The defensive line includes Alim McNeill, Tyleik Williams and Levi Onwuzurike among the starters, with several players listed as injured or uncertain. Edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson and DJ Wonnum are established starters; younger players like Derrick Moore and Ahmed Hassanein are noted as backups.
Linebacker depth lists Mike Jack Campbell, Derrick Barnes and Devin White as primary options, with injuries affecting Malcolm Rodriguez and others. The secondary features D.J. Reed, Rock Ya-Sin and several cornerbacks and safeties, some dealing with recent injuries. Late-season injuries to Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph could open additional opportunities.
Special teams assignments are also outlined, naming Jack Fox as punter, Jake Bates as kicker and various players for return and gunner duties.
The depth chart serves as a guide for fans and analysts as the Lions finalize their roster ahead of the final preseason cut deadline.
