AMC to Screen Two Dolly Parton Films in Nationwide Tribute
AMC Theatres will show "Steel Magnolias" and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" in select locations following Dolly Parton's death, offering discounted tickets and a limited run.
AMC Theatres announced that it will screen two classic films featuring Dolly Parton in 200 theaters across the United States from Friday through the following Wednesday. The lineup includes the 1989 comedy-drama "Steel Magnolias," in which Parton portrays a Louisiana hair-salon owner, and the 1982 musical comedy "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas," where she plays a brothel proprietor opposite Burt Reynolds. Participating venues plan to offer two daily matinee showings—one of each film—at reduced prices. Parton received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her role in "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas."
