Pogačar Recovers After Near Crash on Vuelta Descent

Résumé

Tadej Pogačar narrowly avoided a fall on a narrow downhill section 19 km from the finish of Vuelta a España stage 6, regaining his position behind Enric Mas.

Tadej Pogačar had to use his descending skills on the final part of stage 6 of the Vuelta a España on Thursday. The Slovenian rider lost control while taking a tight right-hand turn on a narrow downhill stretch about 19 km from the finish, briefly riding onto the grassy verge. He stopped within a few metres, unclipped from his bike and pushed back onto the road, then rejoined Enric Mas ahead of the two-up finish.

"I was trying to stay on Mas' wheel and the corner caught me," Pogačar said after the incident.

The incident occurred as Pogačar attempted to accelerate and create a gap on Mas, but he quickly recovered and continued in the race.
