Hulu renews Emmy Rossum thriller "Furious" for second season
The streaming service confirmed a Season 2 order for the crime drama starring Emmy Rossum, which concluded its eight-episode first season on Aug. 31.
"Furious," the Hulu thriller starring Emmy Rossum as FBI agent Alice Black, has been renewed for a second season. The series, which debuted on July 27, saw its viewership increase weekly and wrapped its eight-episode first season with a finale on Aug. 31. The show, created by Elizabeth Meriwether—known for "New Girl" and "The Dropout"—follows Black as she pursues a calculating female serial killer played by Lola Petticrew. According to the series logline, their intersecting quests blur the line between right and wrong. "Furious" draws loosely from the 1987 film "Black Widow" directed by Bob Rafelson. Hulu first announced the series order in March 2025. In addition to Rossum and Petticrew, the cast includes Quincy Tyler Bernstine, Scoot McNairy and guest appearances by Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang and Steve Way.
Variety TV critic Alison Herman praised the first season, noting the "stellar cast" and describing the series as a "compelling study of female victimhood and what happens when women break our culture’s limited scripts for it." The series is produced by 20th Television and Searchlight Television, with Meriwether serving as creator, writer and executive producer. Rossum also executive-produces through Composition 8 alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman, while Brian Kirk executive-produced and directed the opening two episodes.
