Jake Reiner Discusses Parents' Murder and Family Legacy in First TV Interview
Jake Reiner, whose parents were killed eight months ago, spoke to Good Morning America about the tragedy, his brother's alleged involvement, and his plans to honor his parents at a charitable gala.
Jake Reiner, the son of Rob and Michele Reiner, appeared on Good Morning America for his first televised interview since his parents were murdered in December 2025. He described the ongoing emotional impact, saying each day reminds him of his loss and that the experience feels both prolonged and fleeting.
Reiner recounted the phone call from his sister Romy that first informed him of their father's death and his mother's disappearance, noting he went into shock. He confirmed that his brother Nick has been arrested as the primary suspect in the killings, but declined to elaborate on his feelings about the allegations.
"[Nick]'s in jail. It's like, I physically lost my parents, and then Nick was arrested. Now it's just me and Romy, and we have to navigate this by ourselves essentially," Reiner said.
He expressed anger and frustration over the circumstances, emphasizing that his parents had consistently supported all three children.
"I’ll never understand. I don’t care how it’s explained to me. I don’t care what facts come out. I will never understand why this happened," he added.
Reiner also said he will attend the annual Cape & Gown Gala, a fundraiser for the Children’s Institute that his parents helped organize, in their place.
"I don’t necessarily know that I have this weight on my shoulders to carry on their legacy, but I do feel responsible for making sure people know them and they remember them," he said.
