Jake Reiner speaks publicly about parents' murders and brother's arrest
Jake Reiner discussed the deaths of his parents and his brother Nick's arrest in his first televised interview, describing the ongoing impact on his family.
Jake Reiner, 35, appeared in a sit-down interview on KABC-TV after previewing the segment on "Good Morning America." He said he lost his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, eight months ago and that his brother Nick Reiner is now in jail. Reiner added that he and his 28-year-old sister Romy are coping with the loss.
He recalled learning of the December 2025 killings when Romi called to tell him their father had died and that she could not locate their mother. Reiner said his parents had shown "unconditional love" to their three children before the tragedy.
In a joint statement released with his sister after the murders, the siblings described the event as "horrific and devastating" and said it caused constant pain. Four months later, Reiner wrote an essay on Substack noting that the family had lost more than half of its members and that his brother's involvement added to the difficulty of processing the events.
Reiner also referenced his bond with his parents during a May episode of his "Incline: Dodgers" podcast. Romy has not spoken publicly about the case. Neither sibling attended Nick's court appearances, where he has entered a not-guilty plea, but they reportedly testified before the grand jury that indicted him. The pre-trial hearing is set for Sept. 15.
