Aaron Donald says he retained speed after two-year retirement, prepares to rejoin Rams
The 35-year-old defensive tackle claims his speed has not declined, citing data from his longtime trainer as he readies for a possible return to the Los Angeles Rams.
Aaron Donald, 35, is preparing to return to the Los Angeles Rams after a two-year retirement. He told reporters that he maintained his conditioning by lifting weights and running full-speed treadmill sessions during his time away. Donald said his speed trainer, Dewayne Brown, who has worked with him since high school, measured his performance and confirmed that his speed has not diminished.
"You ain’t missed a step," Brown reportedly said after reviewing the recent data.
Brown posted a video showing Donald performing footwork drills that mirror those used throughout his NFL career. Donald added that three months of workouts have given him confidence in his readiness for a comeback, describing the regimen as a necessary personal process.
The former defensive tackle’s remarks come as he evaluates the possibility of rejoining the Rams for the upcoming season.
