Good Good Golf withdraws as PGA Tour event sponsor after ad controversy

Resumen

Good Good Golf ended its title sponsorship of a PGA Tour tournament following criticism of a video ad, while Callaway cut ties and pledged a $1 million donation to domestic-violence charities.

Good Good Golf announced it will no longer serve as the title sponsor of the PGA Tour tournament scheduled for Nov. 12-15 at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas. The decision was made shortly after equipment maker Callaway terminated its partnership with Good Good Golf, citing backlash over a 60-second advertisement that showed a man shoving a woman to the ground.

Good Good said it must focus on its team and culture and work to regain trust. The PGA Tour confirmed the event will proceed as planned and will seek a new sponsor, adding that it supports the decision and remains committed to a welcoming environment for all.

Callaway acknowledged its internal review was insufficient, reposted the controversial video, and said it had taken corrective actions, including a $1 million donation to organizations that prevent domestic violence and assist survivors. The company expressed remorse, stating that violence against women is unacceptable and should never be trivialized.

The ad featured content creators Garrett Clark and Alexis Miestowski, with Clark telling Miestowski, "Do not touch my new driver," before shoving her. Following the incident, Dick's Sporting Goods and Golf Galaxy removed related merchandise, and Golf Channel cancelled the season of its reality series "Big Break x Good" after a sponsor requested its branding be removed.

PGA Tour CEO and commissioner Brian Rolapp said Good Good's initial response was disappointing and defensive, but noted that the company's subsequent statements have improved.
