Patriots trade WR Kayshon Boutte to Texans, coach cites depth-chart reasons
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said the trade of wide receiver Kayshon Boutte to the Houston Texans was motivated by depth-chart considerations and limited special-teams opportunities, and he praised Boutte’s openness about his personal struggles. Earlier, Patriots executive Eliot Wolf said the move was driven by the team’s interest in safety Jaylen Reed rather than concerns about receiver depth. The trade sent Boutte to Houston in exchange for Reed and a 2028 seventh-round draft pick, giving the Texans added depth after a starter’s injury.
