USS Abraham Lincoln transits Singapore Strait en route to Thailand
CBS News reported that the carrier USS Abraham Lincoln transited the Singapore Strait early as it continued toward a planned port call in Thailand. The ship had been deployed for more than 250 days, the longest deployment without a port visit in its history, and was slated to dock in Thailand for crew rest before returning to the United States, according to USA Today. Earlier, The Independent noted that the carrier had been forced to rely on the distant logistics hub at Diego Garcia after Iranian attacks damaged its Bahrain base, leading to food and sanitation shortages.
The Conversation highlighted that the 266-day deployment, most of it in combat operations, raised concerns about U. S. military readiness.
