ICE releases father of USS Abraham Lincoln sailor after brief detention
U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released Luis Manuel Aviles, the father of a sailor serving on the USS Abraham Lincoln, after he spent a day in federal immigration custody in Miami.
Aviles had been arrested in Key West, Florida, following a traffic stop; ICE said immigration violations would be pursued despite his son’s military service. His son, Joshua Aviles, voiced concern while deployed on the carrier’s nine-month mission in the Middle East.
