Angel Reese breaks two WNBA rebounding records in Dream win over Sparks
Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese recorded 26 rebounds, setting the league's single-game and season-total rebounding records during a 78-71 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks.
Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese posted a historic 26 rebounds in the team’s 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks at Crypto.com Arena on Monday, establishing a new WNBA single-game rebounding record. Despite shooting 4 of 14 from the field, Reese captured eight offensive boards and helped secure the victory.
Reese said after the game, "Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots. Tonight I couldn’t hit (anything) so I knew I was going be able to get them on the rebounding side. I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win."
The performance also pushed her season total to 458 rebounds, surpassing A’Ja Wilson’s previous record of 451 and setting a new benchmark for the league. Reese’s 11 points, 26 rebounds and three assists came in 38 minutes, marking her 27th double-double of the season.
Dream guard Allisha Gray praised the effort, stating, "That's a talent. I'm just in awe watching her rebound."
Reese, a three-time All-Star, previously set a rookie record with 13.1 rebounds per game and holds the league record for 15 consecutive double-doubles, having led the WNBA in rebounding in each of her first two seasons and continuing to top the category this year at 12.0 per game.
