Angel Reese sets WNBA single-game rebounding record in Dream victory over Sparks
Angel Reese grabbed 26 rebounds, breaking the league's single-game record, as the Atlanta Dream defeated the Los Angeles Sparks 78-71.
Angel Reese recorded 26 rebounds for the Atlanta Dream in a 78-71 win over the Los Angeles Sparks, establishing a new WNBA single-game rebounding record and surpassing the previous mark of 24 set by Chamique Holdsclaw in 2003. The performance also moved Reese past the season rebound total previously held by A’ja Wilson.
Reese added 11 points, giving her a 27th double-double of the season with 13.9 seconds remaining. > "Last time I was here, I didn’t miss any shots. Tonight I couldn’t hit [anything] so I knew I was going be able to get them on the rebounding side," Reese said after the game. > "I just want to be there for my team. Offensively, defensively, whatever it takes to win."
Dream guard Allisha Gray praised the effort, noting Reese's talent on the boards. Coach Karl Smesko highlighted her continued improvement during the team's four-game West Coast road trip.
Reese, a three-time All-Star, previously set a rookie record with 13.1 rebounds per game and a league record of 15 consecutive double-doubles with Chicago in 2024. She has led the league in rebounding for each of her first two seasons and currently averages 12.4 rebounds per game.
