Lando Norris Wins Final Dutch Grand Prix as Max Verstappen Retires with DNF

Resumen

Lando Norris claimed victory at the last Formula 1 Dutch Grand Prix, while Max Verstappen failed to finish after crashing on the wet circuit. Several midfield drivers also saw mixed results.

Lando Norris secured his first win of the 2026 season at Zandvoort, finishing 32 seconds ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri and out-maneuvering Kimi Antonelli during the race. The British driver’s performance was highlighted as a key factor in keeping his team competitive under the new regulations.

Max Verstappen was the most prominent retiree, crashing into the wall on the damp final corners of the circuit. The incident underscored the difficulty of the track even for the sport’s leading driver.

Nico Hülkenberg delivered a strong eighth-place finish for Williams after avoiding a collision with teammate Gabriel Bortoleto, who struggled after a poor start and a spin at the same corner that claimed Verstappen’s car.

Oscar Piastri, despite starting on hard tyres, fell to sixth after an early loss of position and a slow pit stop, leaving him with only 12 points from the previous two races.

Fernando Alonso finished ninth for Aston Martin after a one-stop strategy, keeping Alpine’s Pierre Gasly behind and challenging the Racing Bulls midfield duo. Alonso said he will discuss his future with team principal Lawrence Stroll and technical director Adrian Newey.

Carlos Sainz ended the race in 16th after a lock-up on Turn 1 caused a collision with teammate Alex Albon, who later retired with floor damage.

The Racing Bulls team, represented by Yuki Tsunoda and Arvid Lindblad, were hampered by a drive-through penalty on Lindblad, which limited their points haul.

The event marked the final Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, with organizers noting the race’s popularity and unique circuit layout despite financial challenges that prevent its continuation.

Franco Colapinto received two penalties for overtaking under yellow-flag conditions, finishing 14th without scoring points.
