U.S. immigration officials detain boat pilot after deadly New York Harbor capsizing
U. S. immigration officials detained the speedboat operator who caused a capsizing near the Statue of Liberty that killed a mother and her infant, according to AP News.
The man, identified as Manuel Hernandez, had been accused of running an unlicensed, over-capacity boat that overturned near Liberty Island. NBC reported that deportation proceedings were initiated against him after he was charged with misconduct resulting in two deaths. 6abc noted that ICE took him into custody pending trial.
