Royal family gathers for Sunday service in Scotland amid news of Harry and Meghan's return
Princess of Wales Kate Middleton and Prince William attended a service at Crathie Kirk with other senior royals, days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced plans to relocate back to the United Kingdom.
Princess of Wales Kate Middleton and Prince William joined King Charles III, Queen Camilla and other senior members of the British royal family for a Sunday service at Crathie Kirk in the Scottish village of Crathie. The couple travelled together, with their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – seated in the back of the car. King Charles and Queen Camilla were escorted to the church by a personal driver and also sat in the backseat.
Also present were Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, his daughter Lady Louise Windsor, Princess Anne, her husband Timothy Laurence and other relatives. The gathering took place four days after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said they would move back to the United Kingdom for an extended period with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
"The palace was made aware of the move," a source told the outlet, adding that King Charles was informed last Sunday.
"I know that Charles is the reason they are moving back," an insider said.
The source said the Sussexes will reside in a non-royal home and continue their private business activities, while remaining non-working members of the family. Their relocation is also intended to allow their children to build relationships with relatives and to be closer to the king, who is undergoing treatment for cancer.
