Montecito residents express relief over Prince Harry and Meghan's return to the UK
Neighbors in the California town of Montecito said they are pleased that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to the United Kingdom, citing a desire for quieter community life.
Residents of Montecito, California, said they welcome Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to relocate to the United Kingdom after six years in the affluent community. One neighbor told Page Six that concerns arose when the couple moved in 2020 because of the intense media attention surrounding the royal family, adding that many locals prefer the area to remain "quiet".
"Montecito is a very private, peaceful place, and I think a lot of people here will be happy to see things go back to being a little quieter," the resident said.
Another neighbor described the couple's presence as bringing an "unusual level of press and media attention" to the town and said many locals are glad to see them leave. The comments reflect the views of several residents and do not represent the entire Montecito community.
People reported on August 19 that the family will keep their Montecito mansion and a vacation home in Portugal while residing in the UK for an extended period.
