Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen to host president on radio interview
President Donald Trump will appear in a taped interview on Michael Cohen's WABC radio program, marking a public reconciliation after Cohen's testimony against him in multiple legal proceedings.
President Donald Trump is slated to take part in a taped interview on former personal attorney Michael Cohen's WABC radio show, scheduled to air Thursday evening and again on Sunday. Cohen, who served a prison term after pleading guilty to campaign-finance violations and other offenses, confirmed the appearance on his program.
The interview follows Cohen's recent comments suggesting the two have begun to mend their relationship after a period of public hostility that included Cohen's testimony in Trump’s 2024 criminal hush-money trial and earlier congressional hearings. In a newsletter post, Cohen wrote that despite a "political blood sport" the friendship that spanned 15 years had not been entirely erased, adding, "We forgave."
The White House did not comment on the planned interview, though Trump’s official schedule listed a radio taping on Thursday morning. Trump has not issued a direct statement about Cohen, but has shared social-media posts referencing Cohen’s claims of pressure from prosecutors during the hush-money and civil fraud cases.
Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison in 2018 for campaign-finance crimes related to payments made to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, and later testified that the payments were intended to influence the 2016 election. His testimony contributed to Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records. Cohen’s 2020 memoir portrayed Trump in harsh terms but also noted lingering personal affection.
