Moderna, Merck claim melanoma vaccine halves recurrence risk in Phase III trial
Moderna and Merck said their personalized mRNA melanoma vaccine, intismeran autogene, cut the risk of disease recurrence or spread in a Phase III trial of 1,137 high-risk patients, with the results unveiled at the American Society of Clinical Oncology meeting in Chicago on August 17. Earlier reports from Gizmodo and Ars Technica noted that the vaccine, given alongside Merck’s Keytruda, extended recurrence-free and distant metastasis-free survival. Yahoo Finance later observed that Moderna’s shares fell 12% in pre-market trading after a prior 177% surge on the same trial success.
