Sandra Bullock Discusses Partner Bryan Randall's ALS Battle and Death on Podcast

Resumen

Actress Sandra Bullock explained on the "SmartLess" podcast why she kept her partner Bryan Randall's ALS diagnosis private and reflected on his death three years after his diagnosis.

Actress Sandra Bullock spoke on the "SmartLess" podcast about the death of her partner Bryan Randall, who died on Aug. 5, 2023, after a three-year battle with ALS. Bullock said Randall asked her not to disclose his illness, a request she honored, noting that only her sister Gesine Bullock-Prado was aware of his condition. She described the period as an isolating "trifecta" that included caring for her children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"He asked me not to share. I know why he asked me to," Bullock said.

She added that she eventually confided in close friends, including Jennifer Aniston and Amanda Anka, but felt she had been grieving his decline long before his death. Bullock called ALS a "traumatic diagnosis" and said she began mourning the loss of the person she loved well before his body failed.

Randall's family released a statement confirming his wish for privacy and expressing gratitude to medical staff who cared for him. The family also asked for continued privacy while they process their loss.

Bullock and Randall met in 2015 when he photographed her son Louis' birthday party and began dating shortly after. He helped raise Bullock's two adopted children, Louis, 16, and Laila, 12, and had an adult daughter, Skylar, from a previous relationship. Bullock previously married Jesse James from 2005 to 2010.
