Apple reportedly prepares new Home devices ahead of major launch event
A macOS code leak referenced several unreleased Home products, including a new Apple TV 4K, a second-generation HomePod mini, a HomePad hub and possible security camera and video doorbell.
Apple is said to be preparing a refresh of its Home product lineup ahead of its upcoming launch event, which will also feature new iPhone and Apple Watch models. A recent macOS 26.7 release candidate was found to contain internal codenames that correspond to several unreleased devices.
According to the leak, codenames J490 and J491 refer to a HomePad hub, with J490 representing a base unit and J491 a wall-mounted version. The code B525 is linked to a second-generation HomePod mini, while J229 likely denotes a security camera. Additional identifiers such as HomeAccessory17,2 and HomeAccessory17,3 suggest other, as-yet-unnamed Home accessories. The string ATVRemote1,5 points to an updated Siri Remote expected to accompany a new Apple TV 4K.
The leak also mentions a “Pebble” reference, interpreted as the internal name for a new homeOS platform, and an "audioaccessoryvisual_reasoning" string that may relate to the HomePad. Four color options—Rose Pink, Silver, Space Gray and Starlight—were found for an unspecified Home accessory.
Industry observers note that the information aligns with long-standing rumors about a HomePod mini 2, a HomePad hub and a video doorbell, though Apple has not confirmed any details.
