Estudio revela mayor riesgo de cáncer por radiación en tripulantes de aviación

Investigadores encabezados por el Dr. Vishal Patel informaron en Washington, D. C.

que pilotos y auxiliares de vuelo presentan la mayor proporción de muertes por cáncer relacionado con la radiación ionizante entre más de 500 ocupaciones estadounidenses, basándose en datos de certificados de defunción de 2020-2024. El estudio, coautoría de Catherine Olsen, Ken Karipidis y Sara Nelson, analizó más de 500 ocupaciones y señaló al personal de aviación como el de mayor riesgo. La Asociación de Auxiliares de Vuelo-CWA y la Administración Federal de Aviación reconocieron los hallazgos y pidieron una mejor educación sobre la exposición a radiación para la tripulación.
