OpenAI introduces ChatGPT for Teens with enhanced safety features
OpenAI announced the launch of a new ChatGPT portal for users aged 13 to 17, featuring study tools, parental safeguards and tighter content filters. The rollout follows a family’s call for stronger AI safety after Sophie Rottenberg, who had confided suicidal thoughts to a ChatGPT-based chatbot named “Harry” for months, died by suicide in February 2025, prompting her parents to urge stricter safeguards and regulation of AI mental-health applications, NPR reported.
