Apple's camera-equipped earbuds expected to join AirPods Pro line

Resumen

A macOS file labels the upcoming camera-enabled AirPods as "AirPods Pro," indicating they will likely be released under the Pro brand rather than as a separate Ultra model.

Apple is reportedly preparing a new version of its wireless earbuds that includes a built-in camera. A macOS Tahoe 26.7 file that references the device is labeled "AirPods Pro," suggesting the product will be positioned within the AirPods Pro lineup instead of being marketed as a distinct "AirPods Ultra" model. While the label could be a placeholder, the inclusion of a full product video in the software reduces the likelihood of a temporary name.

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman previously noted that Apple was considering the "Ultra" branding for several upcoming devices, including foldable iPhones and higher-priced earbuds. He indicated that the camera-equipped earbuds might carry a higher price point than the current $249 AirPods Pro 3, and that the "Pro" designation could signal a price close to existing models.

The earbuds, codenamed B790 in recent reports, have been delayed due to challenges integrating Siri's artificial-intelligence capabilities. Gurman earlier mentioned a different codename, B798, and explained that Apple often develops multiple internal versions of a product before finalizing a launch. The latest information points to a possible release this year, with the macOS video implying the device is nearing readiness.

According to the product description, the built-in camera will not capture photos or video for the user; instead, it will provide visual data to Siri's AI to enhance the system's visual-intelligence functions.
