Hayden Panettiere's Mother Says Granddaughter Likely to Inherit Estate Under California Law

Summary

Lesley Vogel told The Daily Mail that, absent a will, California law would direct Hayden Panettiere's estate to her 11-year-old daughter Kaya, who lives with her father in Ukraine.

Lesley Vogel, mother of the late actress Hayden Panettiere, said in an interview with The Daily Mail that California law would likely transfer the entire estate to Panettiere's daughter, Kaya, because no will appears to have been filed.

Vogel described Kaya, who resides with her father, former boxer Wladimir Klitschko, in Ukraine, as an "exceptional" child who speaks five languages and competes successfully in horse-riding events.

"She is an amazing human being," Vogel said.

Vogel added that Kaya is surrounded by supportive people and that she is not concerned about her daughter's well-being. She also said she is focusing on the ongoing investigation into Panettiere's death and on settling the estate.

Panettiere was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, while staying with boyfriend Brian Hickerson. First responders were unable to revive her. The DEA is assisting local police with the investigation.

Vogel dismissed criticism of her handling of the situation as "unprofessional" and said she is being unfairly attacked by individuals who do not know her.
